What is manual therapy?

Manual therapy is a branch of medicine based on the work of a specialist’s hands with muscles, ligaments, fascia, joints and the spine. This is not just a massage - it is a complex of precise therapeutic effects aimed at:

  • elimination of displacements in joints and spine,
  • removal of blocks and spasms,
  • restoration of mobility,
  • normalization of blood and lymph flow,
  • activation of self-regulation of the body.

It is a gentle but very precise job that requires a deep knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics and neurology.

What is the power of the method?

The body is a single system. Even a small shift in the spine can cause:
  • headaches,
  • dizziness,
  • numbness in the arms or legs,
  • breathing problems, digestion, sleep,
  • chronic fatigue, stress and pain that does not go away for years.
A manual therapist finds the root cause - it could be an old injury, a spasm, overload or even stress. And with the help of manual techniques, returns the body structures to their normal position and function.
About the expert
Dmitry Borisov
Manual therapist, rehabilitation specialist
Specialization: pain management, injury rehabilitation, musculoskeletal system
Dmitry Borisov is a specialist with a medical education and more than 12 years of practical experience in the field of manual therapy and physical rehabilitation. He studied in Israel, in specialized medical institutions:
Medi-CN College; Wingate Institute.
For many years, Dmitry had a private practice in Israel, where he dealt with the diagnosis and treatment of chronic and acute pain, rehabilitation of patients after injuries and surgeries, correction of posture, restoration of joint and spine mobility. He knows well how important it is not just to relieve the symptom, but to eliminate the cause of the disorder and help the body return to its natural balance.
Today, Dmitry works at the WaterLand center (Batumi), where he sees adults, teenagers, and athletes. His goal is to restore the health of the musculoskeletal system, reduce pain, restore mobility, and improve the quality of life of patients.

Complex therapy and restoration of the musculoskeletal system

If you are experiencing back pain, joint pain, headaches, limited mobility or the consequences of injuries, it is important to find the cause, not just eliminate the symptoms. Our approach is based on a deep understanding of body biomechanics and practical experience in restorative medicine.
COMPREHENSIVE
Treatment of the spine and discs
Osteochondrosis is one of the most common causes of pain in the neck, between the shoulder blades and in the lower back. We work with the cervical, thoracic and lumbar regions, eliminating clamps, relieving inflammation and restoring the mobility of the vertebrae.

Herniated and protruding discs are often accompanied by pain, numbness in the limbs and impaired sensitivity. Manual therapy, myofascial release and craniosacral techniques help relieve pressure on the nerves, restore normal movement and alleviate the condition without surgery.
COMPREHENSIVE
Recovery from sports injuries and overloads
Even minor injuries and regular stress can lead to permanent problems if not treated promptly.
What we work with:
  • Sprains, bruises, dislocations
  • Tears of muscles, tendons, soft tissues
  • Overloads and microtraumas in athletes
Common overuse syndromes:
  • Runner's knee
  • IT band syndrome (iliotibial band)
  • Tennis elbow
  • Plantar fasciitis (heel pain)
We restore mobility and relieve pain with manual therapy, taping, myofascial release and special exercises. We work for results - without repeated injuries.
COMPREHENSIVE
Recovery from injuries and surgeries
After injuries and surgery, the body needs gentle but gradual recovery.
This is especially important after:
  • Arthroscopy of joints
  • Plastic repair of ligaments (e.g. cruciate ligaments of the knee)
  • Severe contusions, dislocations, ruptures of tendons and ligaments
Rehabilitation includes:
  • Restoring joint mobility
  • Strengthening the muscular corset
  • Relieving pain and swelling
  • Correction of gait and balance
COMPREHENSIVE
Kinesio taping
Kinesio taping is a physical therapy technique that uses elastic tapes that are applied to the skin to support muscles and joints without restricting movement.
What does taping give:
  • Relieves pain and reduces inflammation
  • Stabilizes joints and muscles in case of injuries and overloads
  • Improves blood and lymph flow, reduces swelling
  • Reduces stress on injured areas
  • Helps correct movement and posture
The method is safe, effective and is often used in sports, rehabilitation and recovery from injuries and operations.
Hijama (vacuum therapy)
Hijama is a traditional therapy method in which special vacuum cups are placed on the skin, and in some cases superficial controlled blood drainage is performed. This method is used to activate the body's natural cleansing and restoration processes.
The main effects of the procedure:
  • Improves blood circulation in areas of stagnation and chronic tension
  • Stimulates metabolism and elimination of toxins
  • Relieves inflammation and muscle spasms
  • Helps with chronic fatigue, headaches, back and joint pain
  • Enhances the body's natural recovery processes
The procedure is carried out strictly according to indications, in compliance with hygiene standards, and can be combined with other types of therapy to enhance the effect.
Consultation on mobility and biomechanics
During the consultation, an assessment of posture, movement and balance in the body is carried out to identify hidden causes of pain, restrictions and overloads.
We determine which joints or muscles are not working properly and how this affects your well-being. After the diagnosis, you receive clear recommendations: what to correct, how to improve movement and reduce the load on weak areas.
Suitable for chronic pain, posture disorders, after injuries and as part of sports rehabilitation.

Who benefits from these procedures?

Patients with:
  • Back, neck, lower back pain
  • Limited joint mobility
  • Headaches, migraines
  • Numbness of the limbs, “goosebumps”
  • Intervertebral hernias and protrusions
  • Scoliosis, posture disorders
  • Gait disorders, after injuries
  • Chronic fatigue and anxiety
And also:
  • For children and teenagers — to correct posture and prevent spinal curvatures
  • For athletes — for recovery, injury prevention and increased mobility
  • For the elderly — to relieve chronic pain, improve quality of life
  • After surgeries and injuries — for comprehensive rehabilitation and restoration of functions
